Belly Beat Doppler & TENS Hire is an Australian company founded in 2005 and is based on my experiences as a newly expecting mum.
When my husband and I found out we were expecting our first child we were very excited. Sadly this pregnancy ended in miscarriage. When I fell pregnant for the second time I was very anxious and concerned that this pregnancy also would end in miscarriage.
It was suggested to me that I might enjoy hearing my baby’s heartbeat at home to help alleviate my anxiety between midwifery appointments (you know how hard it is to wait for that next appointment!) and allow me to enjoy my pregnancy. Overnight my pregnancy was transformed.
During the early months of this pregnancy, so much was happening to my body that my husband felt removed from the whole experience. I found using a Doppler helped my husband feel involved in this special time. Most days ended with us listening to our baby before we went to sleep.
I was living in the UK during the first 6 months of my pregnancy. One of the great things about the Doppler was the ability to record the sound to our computer. When it came time to tell our family and friends about our pregnancy we sent an email to everyone with the sound file attached. It was a great way to share our excitement with our families. I even recorded the sound to my mobile phone! It truly is one of the best sounds in the world.
During my second pregnancy my daughter was very excited by the noises she could hear coming from mummy’s tummy. She loved using the Doppler with my husband and me, and mimicking the sound whilst grandly announcing, “Baby, baby, baby”.
